It's that time of the year again when, in most parts of the country, it starts getting colder. For this reason, it is very important to know of different ways to try to keep your house, or a room in the house warm. There are several ways. One way to keep a room cool is to turn up the thermostat, but that would mean losing money to pay higher bills. The other option is to use drapes. Using drapes could not only keep a room in the house warmer, but it could also save you lots of money.

When you go to a store to shop for draperies that will help to maintain a certain temperature in your house, make sure to buy a drape with flannel interlining. This interlining combined with the outer lining will help to keep your house warmer. Drapes are, of course, very heavy so this also helps in keeping the cool air out.

On the other hand, if you are of those lucky people who will be spending the holidays at the beach, drapes will also help to keep your house cooler during those hot nights. To keep a room cooler, the best way is to open your insulated drapes when the sun is not hitting the window directly and close them when the sun is hitting it. In other words, open the drapes for west facing windows in the morning and close them in the afternoon. Drapes are a cheap way to save some money. Who could find a better reason than that?
